Blog: Children's Liturgy of the Word
Oh, that today you would hear his voice:
“Harden not your hearts as at Meribah,
as in the day of Massah in the desert,
Where your fathers tempted me;
they tested me though they had seen my works.”
"Speak to me, Lord, I am listening!"
It happened in those days that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee and was baptized in the Jordan by John.
On coming up out of the water he saw the heavens being torn open and the Spirit, like a dove, descending upon him.
And a voice came from the heavens,
“You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased.”
Mk 1:7-11
Mary said, "Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord.
May it be done to me according to your word." Luke 1:38
The spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me,
because the LORD has anointed me;
he has sent me to bring glad tidings to the poor,
to heal the brokenhearted,
to proclaim liberty to the captives
and release to the prisoners,
to announce a year of favor from the LORD
and a day of vindication by our God. Isaiah 61
Prepare the way of the Lord,
make straight his paths.
"Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of the least brothers of mine, you did for me." Matthew 25:46
“Jesus, give me a generous heart. Teach me how to open my heart — and my hands —to everyone around me.”
“Blessed are those who fear the Lord and walk in his ways! For you shall eat the fruit of your handiwork; blessed shall you be, and favored.” Psalm 128
Brothers and sisters:
You are God’s building.
According to the grace of God given to me,
like a wise master builder I laid a foundation,
and another is building upon it.
But each one must be careful how he builds upon it,
for no one can lay a foundation other than the one that is there,
namely, Jesus Christ.
Do you not know that you are the temple of God,
and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?
If anyone destroys God’s temple,
God will destroy that person;
for the temple of God, which you are, is holy.
"Teacher, which commandment in the law is the greatest?"
He said to him,
"You shall love the Lord, your God,
with all your heart,
with all your soul,
and with all your mind.
This is the greatest and the first commandment.
The second is like it:
You shall love your neighbor as yourself.
The whole law and the prophets depend on these two commandments."
